Ram in Thicket, is something that really caught my eye. First of all the colors just blend soo well that one might easily think that it was painted. But what intrigued me was that there was gold foil. I had no idea that foil was even invented by 2300 B.C. Anyway, the carving is great. The flowers at the end of the thicket look lovely. It almost looks as if the goat is wearing a coat of feathers. Still pretty cool though. Furthermore, this is the first time i've actually seen lapiz lazuli in a piece of art. I love that this piece is made of many different precious materials. The horns, the face of the goat, the thicket, all of it looks well made and realistic.
The next piece i wanted to write about is the Laocoon Group. I looked at this sculpture and i laughed a little. Not because it's terrible or anything but because the emotion is so exaggerated that the main subjects face looks a little funny to me. But the story behind this is nothing funny to laugh at. The artistry behind it is actually amazing. Although it is a little damaged it sculpts the story of Laocoon and his suns. Laocoon, i feel, was actually a hero. He urged the trojans to keep the doors shut and to not admit the trojan horse in. Although we all know that the Trojans eventually let the horse in, Laocoon was a hero for forseeing the trick and attempting to stop it. He was so clever that the sea god Poseidon had to send to serpents to kill him. I love how the emotions show the pain and fear in the faces of Laocoon and his sons as they are being killed. The serpent could be a symbol of Poseidon and how snakey he was. The act committed by the sea god was evil and he had no right to encroach in the quarrel between armies of man. This sculpture was actually very sad to me. It may be a happy sculpture for the Greek but it was sad to know that the trojans could've been saved if it weren't for the sea god Poseidon.

Ancient Mediterranean Worlds set 1
The first piece i wanted to talk about is Nanna Ziggurat. I found this to be truly amazing. It isn't made of stone but the Sumerians built it of sun-dried brick. The temple is elevated to be symbolic of a mountain top and a meeting place for heaven and earth. It is a very religious structure and i found this to be pretty interesting. Nobody truly knows where heaven is. Is it really way up high in the sky? What if heaven was simply an overlapping world that exists right next to us that we can't come in contact with? Even way back then, it appears that heaven has always simply been thought of as "up there." yet with no proof that it is up there these ancient people built something sooo massive. It's a very tall structure that holy people would climb up to hopefully come in contact with the gods. I find that to be kinda cool. For people to care enough to build something the size of a mountain simply to talk to you. the gods must be really lucky people. I love how the stairs come for the front and the two sides and meet at the top. It almost looks like a pyramid. This structure is just simply amazing.
the next thing i want to talk about is called lion hunt. This piece of art is very powerful. It sends a message showing the power of the royalty. Lions are known to be the king of the beasts and here the king is shown slaying the king of beasts. It asserts power in saying that this king is king of beasts and the men he rules. He is more powerful than even the most powerful of beasts and he is king of his kingdom. What also amazes me is that these aren't mere paintings. Its etched into stone from ancient times and still is still around and hardly damaged today. The precision and detail is truly amazing. The style is very interesting as well. It's similar to hieroglyphs or the paintings found on Egyptian walls but it's not painted and it's more realistic. You can see the change in style between these two civilizations. This picture even covers the muscles of the beasts. The attention to detail is simply amazing for art work back then.

The Renaissance set 2
David, by Michelangelo is probably one of the most famous sculptures i know of. I feel like i've grown up with this sculpture.What i love about this sculpture is that it's been around for thousands of years and is still in tact. the detail is impressive and furthermore it doesn't create implant the image that "real" men have like eight packs and muscles the size of boulders as shown in todays society. Rather, this body is actually attainable and natural. I dunno. This guy is naked and doesn't give a damn if anyone sees. He's got this confidence not found in many people and if people have that confidence it's usually because they are douche bags. This man was a hero. His arms aren't too big his body is proportionate. His sculpted body is perfect. Strong yet kind and gentle. He looks intimidating but at the same time you know he's not like that. He stands with elegance and with a delicate balance. He is grace and power all in one.
The next piece is Allegory by Agnolo Bronzino. What can i say? This piece kind of upsets me in many ways. I hate the way it's painting i hate the look in the eyes of every subject in this painting. The baby with the flowers looks mischievous the head behind her looks evil. There's a girl in the top left corner that looks like she's about to be molested or raped by the old man in the top right corner and a woman on the left that looks insane or in great despair. The woman in the front looks like she's about to kiss the evil looking devil woman with angel wings. Everything seems a little ironic for me. I hate the style of painting. I've never seen babies with faces that look like their 10 with bodies that look like their 3. This painting is very sexual and offensive to my eyes. If the man in the top right corner is God then it's like no matter what evil is going on it doesn't matter because God doesn't care because he's busy doing evil on his own. I feel like this is a very twisted picture from a sac-religious man who hates the catholic or christian religion.

Madonna and Child with Saint Anne is a painting done by Michelangelo. I think this painting has some pretty creative meaning. The lineage depicted from Saint Anne to Mary to Jesus. The symbolism for Jesus being the sacrificial lamb. I find this painting to be very interesting. It's painted in a way that hints towards an ominous ending. Like some movie trailers, the painting is of a happy moment but the way the image looks is like the painting is about to burn and then turn into something demonic or evil. It's as if it's foreshadowing the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. This painting must have taken a lot of skill to paint. For not being a fan of these kinds of paintings i really like this one. you can see the happiness and feel the emotions as Mary holds her son Jesus and as Saint Anne holds her daughter Mary. I feel that it is also symbolic of Mary's innocence. parents hold their kids on their laps as they are growing up but usually when someone has grown they don't sit on their parents laps anymore. I think that the fact that Mary is depicted sitting on Saint Anne's lap shows her innocence. She was a virgin when she had her son and therefore she was still pure and innocent. Her sitting on the lap of her mother shows her innocence as children are usually depicted as being innocent.

Lecture 11/29/2011
Pattern and Variation play a role in a daily lives. For music i'm more for variation than pattern. You'd be surprised what you hear. I may not understand all the lyrics but i still listen to french music like Coeur de Pirate or japanese music like the ROOTLESS. I love to change it up. but mood definitely plays a role. Moods change and so does the music i listen to so if anything i'd say variation over pattern. We did the vote for cypress college classes as well. I guess for me it would definitely be pattern. I know what i want to do and i'm gonna stick to that area. Anatomy Physiology is where it would be at for me. Anything dealing with medical. However, because the classes are always full the classes i pick vary. If i could get any class i wanted then it would definitely be pattern. But because i can't. i'm 50/50. My friends i'd have to say variation. All my friends have a lot in common but they are all totally different people. My group of friends consists of the complainer, the jock, the funny fat one, the philosopher, the successful one, the idiot, and the ostentatious douche. Granted they aren't this way all the time but this is how they play out to be at times. Most of the time though, we just poke fun and have a good time. but they all vary. My partner i guess would have to be 30/70.Variation is good definitely but i want the person to have a stable pattern. i guess what i mean is that i don't have to worry about her not having a future. she has her head on straight and that's what matters. Other than that she's pretty stable overall. Sometimes a partner can be have too much variation. For my life... I would defnitely say 70/30. I love variation. I like switching things up and trying new things. I should be more 50/50 but where's the fun in that? my dream is actually to become well off enough so that i can switch it up everyday with my wife. This keeps things interesting and fun.
Photography Project
Concluded the night playing video games.
So this was my photography project. I had set the camera i borrowed from my girlfriend to take a picture every thirty minutes starting at 2 pm. If you're wondering why i started at 2 instead of when i just woke up... i'll have you know it's because it took me like 2 hours to figure out how to set the timer and stuff. Anyway, this project was pretty interesting. Looking at what i do in a day. It was pretty pathetic. 3-4 hours of TV, 1 hour of errands, 2 hours of workout, and like 1 and a half hours of video games. To the people who are reading this, I expected to do more today. However, due to my lack of transportation, that is unlikely. Today was one of the lazy days i had. I don't do this every day but it's one of the lazy days. This project was pretty interesting because it showed me what i do in a day. It's one thing to know what you're gonna do and it's another to actually see you doing it. I look super lazy and bored most of the day but then again i did work out and stuff. I had fun with this project. I guess this project shows that on some days i can be lazy too. Even though i work out sometimes there are times where i decide to do nothing constructive with my day and that i just need to relax sometimes. My life is about to kick it into high gear... well hopefully. This is what i shouldn't be doing with most of my days. Every now and then it would be okay but yeahhh... this project will be a reminder of what not to do; well for me at least.
Legal Graffiti Project
So this was my Legal Graffiti Project. It was my first time doing any sort of art with spray paint. It was actually a pretty cool project. It took forever to get parking but still... It was well worth it. Parking was ten bucks -__- but whatever. This project made me realize how difficult it is to make something look nice. I've drawn some pieces on paper but the difference is that it doesn't drip. With the spray paint the order in which you spray the colors makes a difference and also how much you spray on makes a difference. As a matter of fact, even the paint you pick makes a difference. The white spray paint i bought sucked big time. the paint just wouldn't stay on the wall. Also, it dripped. you can see in some of the pictures the paint drips. the red paint wasn't too bad but the black paint worked great. I was super embarrassed to write on the walls because there was some other guy there creating a bad ass fantastic piece. The worker there was pretty funny too. He'd walk around with his bag of chips eating it and stuff... Then he was all like "oh shit it's the fat chick... She's found mah chips." i couldn't stop laughing when i heard that. But the reason i was most embarrassed was because i had crappy paint. Or maybe it was my technique. I dunno. But what i do know is that as long as i can get the paint to do what i want, i can do something that i would truly be happy with. On the other hand, even with the crappy paint and my noob technique it was still fun. People get along at Venice Beach. I got to paint a pokeball, write a few things, and make a giant eye with the sharingan which could be seen from pretty far. Even if this class is over, i'm definitely gonna go back and do this again.
